What began as entertainment for a church fair in Gonzales, LA., has grown into one of the hottest show and dance bands in the South. In 1984, Na Na Sha was invited to represent the city of Gonzales, La. by performing at the World’s Fair in New Orleans, La. Since that time, they have provided entertainment for numerous fairs, festivals, conventions, fundraisers, and other functions throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Texas, and Arkansas. Na Na Sha has also been honored to perform as an opening act for and/or on the same venue with great performers such as "Fats" Domino, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Four Tops, Glenn Leonard's Temptations, The Impressions, Percy Sledge, The Swinging Medallions, Allen Toussaint, Vince Vance and the Valiants, Marcia Ball, Chicago, Kool & the Gang, Doug Kershaw, The Guess Who, Louisiana's LaRoux, Ambrosia, Shenandoah, John Anderson, Billy Joe Royal, Jefferson Starship, The Bellamy Brothers, Jo Dee Messina, Los Lonely Boys and Blake Shelton.
In addition to performing music from the legendary "Doo-Wop Days" of the 50’s, or the great "Rhythm and Blues" music from the 60’s and 70’s and some of the popular "Country and Western" music from those eras (and current), Na Na Sha also features group members impersonating many of the famous performers of these eras. Some of these include Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Louis Armstrong, Shirley and Lee, Buddy Holly, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Elvis Presley and our "latest" - George Strait.
An interesting fact about Na Na Sha is that several of the members of the group are related and all of them live in the Gonzales, La. area (within a four to five mile radius). Besides various cousins and life long friends in the band, there is a husband and wife duo . The members range in age from forty-nine to sixty-seven and the variety in the music performed by them caters to audiences of all ages.
In 2002, Na Na Sha was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame along with other legendary Louisiana groups.
Whether you are looking for entertainment for the entire family or for a private party, Na Na Sha is available to provide it. People in attendance may choose to sit back and enjoy the show, or participate in such dances as the Stroll, the Twist, the Jitterbug, the Harlem Shuffle, and the Freeze. Whatever their decision, they are guaranteed to have a great time. Na Na Sha always encourages the crowd to get involved.
Unfortunately, one of the original and long time members of Na Na Sha (Lionel "Willie Nelson" Lambert) went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2012 after a lengthly illness. His soul, his wife Judy and all of their extended family will be in our prayers for quite a while.................we loved and will miss you "Beano"!!!!!!
